‘A Little Introduction’

If you have managed to find me in the depths of the internet and amidst a family of health and fitness blogs, then thank you and welcome to O’s Health Collective!  My primary inspiration for starting this blog was that I wanted to be able to contribute to changing the way we think about food, ‘healthy eating’ and exercise.

I am a Masters student in Edinburgh currently and have always been surrounded by positive encouragement of the benefits of being active, strong and healthy! Yet over the past two years, I have taken a real interest in learning more about my body and how I can shape my exercise and food choices in the best way for me. I really hope this blog continues that learning curve, bettering the way we all think about ‘fitness’ and ‘health’.

As I start my own journey, sharing my personal knowledge and experience, O’s Health Collective wants to show you how you can reframe these different aspects to be tools that help you to feel your best, most energetic, vibrant and powerful self. And at the centre of using these tools is understanding you. Your body and its functions will operate entirely different from that of your best friend’s, your boyfriend, your girlfriend or someone crossing you on the street. In a world of constant comparison that feels at times unavoidable, through endless scrolling on Instagram and dangerous fitness hashtags, getting to understand and love your own body and its strengths, limitations, tolerances and intolerances is SO important.

This blog is split up into sections: Health, Mind, Fuel and Body, and although all of these are all connected to one another, under each of these you’ll be able to find mini-worlds of inspiration. From yummy, nourishing recipes in ‘Fuel’, to exercise tips and inspiration under ‘Body’ and weekly considerations for how your mind and body interact under ‘Mind’. I named these categories as they’re all areas in which we can make ourselves stronger, more fulfilled and empowered. Watch out for weekly blog updates, in which any suggestions for content are very welcome!

So as we start this journey, remember that at the centre of all of this should be you, listening to your body, making the right changes for you, to sustain and thrive off a healthy, active lifestyle!
